What a stock build assumes about you
Off-the-rack clubs are built to a median golfer: a standard length, a standard lie, a standard grip, a stock shaft in three or four flexes and a loft ladder set by the manufacturer's distance marketing rather than by your carry gaps. If you are tall, short, have a long wrist-to-floor, hands outside average, an unusual tempo or a bag with a 40-yard hole in it, you are compensating for that median every swing.
