Aftermarket shafts are the main one and can be a significant premium per club, particularly across a full iron set. Specialist grips, exotic materials and non-standard build work also carry cost. These are optional refinements, not requirements.

Fix composition and gapping first — it is free. Fix lie, length and grip next — usually free on a new order, inexpensive on clubs you own. Only then consider shaft upgrades, and only on the clubs where the analysis says the profile actually changes your delivery.
