Launch Angle

Launch angle is the vertical angle at which the ball leaves the clubface relative to the ground.

01 / Why it matters

Launch angle and spin together define the flight window. A flight that is too low gives up carry; one that is too high gives up control in wind and can shorten total distance.

02 / Performance impact

Launch is driven by dynamic loft, attack angle and strike location. Static loft is only part of it, which is why two clubs stamped with the same loft can produce different flights for the same golfer.

03 / Common misconception

High launch and low spin is often described as universally ideal. It is only useful when the golfer's speed can support it.

04 / How TruePath considers it

TruePath models launch as part of the head, shaft and specification interaction, and pairs it with spin and speed inputs to evaluate whether a configuration produces a usable flight.

Questions golfers ask.

Does more loft always launch the ball higher?
Usually, but attack angle, shaft behaviour and strike location can offset a loft change.
